The stipend is modest — it is sized as a contribution to living costs, not a salary.

On top of that: a free dormitory place or an accommodation contribution toward private housing, and medical insurance under Hungary's system. The scholarship deletes the two lines that price out most study plans — tuition, and the blocked-account-scale funds proof — and leaves the student managing a genuinely small living budget in a genuinely cheap European capital.

What it does not cover, stated plainly: the flights, the initial settlement costs, the winter clothing a Pakistani wardrobe does not own, and the family's comfort money. Price these as real line items in the plan, because the students who struggle in year one struggle on the unbudgeted lines, not the covered ones.

The award levels run across bachelor's, master's, one-tier medicine and dentistry, and doctoral routes — each with its own stipend tier and its own competition ratio. Read the medicine lines with special realism: the one-tier programs are the scholarship's most contested seats, and the entrance examinations are real.

The Two-Gate Application — HEC Nomination, Then the Tempus Portal

Both sides publish their own deadlines, and the effective deadline is whichever closes first. The application season runs in the first months of the calendar year — roughly mid-January to mid-March by the recent cycles' shape — for a September intake. The HEC round opens before the Hungarian deadline, so start in December, not March.

The sequence after submission: the nominations land, the universities run entrance examinations or interviews (spring, online for most programs), and the results publish in early summer.

Only then comes the visa stage — the Hungarian D visa and residence permit through the embassy's consular channel, which begins only after the award letter exists.
